For a split second, the timing is too comedically perfect for James to even consider the fact that this might be real. This is the stuff of every boy's nightmare: caught in the throes of passion with someone else, with someone secret, with someone who is very much supposed to be in school, caught by his father. He stares up, eyes wide and face white with panic when realization sets in that no, no- this is very much real.
