"Try not to inconvenience yourself too much," James drawled back to him in a gently mocking tone. He subtly leaned back into his dad's hand, trying not to seem a little antsy, like he wasn't trying to look at Scorpius and study the little changes in the other boy since the last time he'd seen him. Was he taller? Thinner? He was having trouble telling.
He had been going through another growth spurt himself - not that he was hulking, but his but his own features were definitely maturing. When he looked in the mirror, he saw more of his father in himself, and it was something that inspired more and more pride.
"You kids have fun," he called into the room, before glancing back up at Harry and trying not to let the nervousness in his eyes shine through. This was the week he'd planned on telling Al - and he wasn't looking forward to it. "Think I'm gonna go out for a bit," he murmured then to his father. "Let them hang out."
Because intruding on their time felt weird, but he wasn't sure he could deal with being in the same with Scorpius without being in the same room as him.
